3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
)
Facebook feedback

Con's
The evidence here clearly suggests that the critism by the audience I have gathered is that of a mixed range. Mainly mixed feedback is a very positive thing as it shows that there is a diverse opinion form a mixed audience instead of one specific audience. However, despite getting mixed feedback, it shows that with my documentary that I cant exactly please everybody's expectations. This proves that my documentary has clearly targeted the audience it was aimed at showing that my documentary was a narrow casting programme.

recording and editing radio advert
(The recording and editing of the radio product was done by Cameron and he recorded his dad, here is his blog post)
This is the microphone and mixer that I used to record the radio trailer. I used the Yoga DM-868 dynamic vocal microphone and the the Xenyx 302USB mixer.
Recording and Editing the radio trailer
This is the microphone and mixer that I used to record the radio trailer. I used the Yoga DM-868 dynamic vocal microphone and the the Xenyx 302USB mixer.
The software I used to record radio trailer vocals is Cubase Artist 6.5. In Cubase I added a compressor and reverb to the voice to give it more depth and make it seem a little bit creepy.

scripting radio advert and documentary voice over
Radio trailer annotations:
- Information is at the end of documentary voice over.
- slogan is introduced before scheduling information
- To note the naming of the channel in which the programme is scheduled on should be mentioned at the very end, instead we have only put it in the middle of a scheduling information.
- Questions are raised in the trailer I.E.: "some fears can be rationalised but are all of them rational?"
- extract quote from documentary has also been introduced in our trailer I.E "are all of them rational"

| This is a contact sheet for the snake around the subjects neck. The snake is actually a real snake used around the subjects neck so we wanted to keep as much as it as authentic as possible. |

| This was the first contact sheet of the clown in the mask. This was done in college using Cameron underneath the mask. |
![]() |
| We had to take seperate photos of the balloon because the balloon wasnt filled with helium. This would make it much more difficult to photograph with the clown. |

| This was the old version edit of the poster. This was a very rough edit and decided that the clown mask didnt look very good. |
![]() |
| I decided I would get someone else to model the clown. This time I would apply facial make up on him. This was the contact sheet of the newer version of the clown. |

| I scaled one spider down to size and turned it around using photoshop. I then used a straight line tool and coloured it a light grey to recreate a spider coming down from a spiders web. |

film and editing log
Friday 15th November
Today we rung a couple of people selected from the questionnaires we delivered. We asked for the numbers of the people if they wanted to partake and they gladly accepted. We got a Documentary with three girls who had phobias from the conventional spiders and heights to dolls and such.
Monday 18th November
We did our first interview today, We interviewed a girl called Donna who had a phobia of spiders. At first, we were going to use the classroom with the blue screen, but saw there was a class already using it, So we had to go to another classroom we found in the crescent block only to find out this classroom was going to be used, So eventually we went to the Art block to film the interview. I wish we could of asked if we could use the blue screen because the interview looked a bit neutral and basic, not showing a mise en scene of her phobia. The interview it self was okay, It was a bit rusty at first but we managed to get decent questions.
Wednesday 20th November
Today we were going to film the girl who had a phobia of dolls, but unfortunately she didn't come. We tried contacting her and waited behind for about thirty minutes. I was really disappointed with this because I thought this could be a really good interview.
Thursday 21st November
Today we were going to interview the girl who had a phobia of heights called Rhlana, I texted her this morning about if she was still going to do it but said that she couldn't. Part of me was relieved because if she didn't show up and we were expecting her then we would of had to wait around until 6 O'clock. However part of me again was frustrated because this was the second interview that was turned down. Instead, we tried researching for psychologists and the exotic pet shop to see if we could film there.
Friday 22nd November
Today we went around the campus to see if anymore people had any phobias, I found one girl called Beth who was scared of skeletons and saying that even thinking about one her body made her flinch. We asked if she could do an interview and she gladly accepted. I also found a girl called rose who said she had a phobia of cats, I asked if it was okay if I could get her number to contact her and she said yes.
Wednesday 27th November
Today we interviewed the girl Beth who was afraid of skeletons, We interviewed her in the room with the blue screen and asked her the questions. I was a bit concerned because she seemed uncomfortable talking about her phobia and as if she was about to cry. I asked her she was okay to do this but she said it was fine. When we had done the interview we were uncertain if it was a decent interview so we asked if we could interview her again but she refused because she was very uncomfortable. We understood completely and apologized which she accepted. We got into our other classroom where another class was to put our work on the computer temporally, which the media teacher wad okay with. She asked us what documentary we were doing and we said phobias, she then asked the class if anyone had a phobia. We got a boy who was afraid of snakes and was gladly willing to do an interview so Sam got his number.
Thursday 28th November
Today we went to a biology classroom (with the science teachers permission) to get actuality footage of a model skeleton for mise en scene with Beth's interview. After this we went around the campus in search of spiders webs to film. We found some but most of them were very faint to capture on camera or they were limited. I had the suggestion of spray painting them white so they could be capture much better on the camera, but then decided it would be a bad idea as it would colour the bushes white too. We unfortunately got no actuality footage of spiders webs, but however our teacher was going to guarantee and interview with the boy who is phobic of snakes for tomorrow so we had an interview atleast for the next day.
Friday 29th November
Today we interviewed the boy named Elliot with the snake phobia. We interviewed him in the classroom with the blue screen. This was a really good interview, in fact one of our best so far as we managed to get our interviewee to answer every question clearly and understandably. Most of the questions flowed and I had ease questioning him. I was really please with this interview, we all were. I also tried later that day to see if Rhlana, the girl phobic of heights if she could do an interview for the weekend, Rhlana said she would willing to an interview any other time but not this weekend as she had plans, we know that she would be willing to do one though. Cameron also got a message back from the exotic pet shop saying we could go over to do filming on the Sunday, so this was very good.
Sunday 01st December
Today we went early into town to film our intro and actuality footage at the exotic pet shop. We were going to try and film an interview today but unfortunately her schedule was rather busy so I may have to organize it on another date. We got into town around 10:30 AM and went into the centre to start the day by doing vox pop of passing people. I was disappointed with the vox pop partly because not a lot of people were willing to partake in it and also I was shy asking people so I was disappointed in my self. We eventually got some vox pop footage but it wasn't amazing in my personal opinion. After a while we started heading off to the exotic pet shop. When we got their the pet shop assistance were very helpful and really easy with us filming the animals in there. They were also okay with us filming the tarantula on Cameron's face for our intro. I got a couple of shots out of him acting for our intro, though it was uneasy having him tilt his head to the side, but he couldn't help it, overall it went alright. I liked the intro and how it came out, the rest of my group agreed and we asked if we could get actuality footage of the other creatures. We got some of a Burmese Python on the floor and scorpions and other tarantulas. This was the highlight of the day and has helped our group out a lot, the pet shop said if we needed more footage we were more than welcome to come back for more.
Monday 02nd December
Today we interviewed the psychologist who worked as a counsellor at college. She was willing to do the interview, however we had to do this on a tight schedule as she had an appointment booked in half an hour, also she was on the probability of taking important calls in the interview meaning she would have to cancel straight away during the interview. This was also our only shot of interviewing her as this was her only availability before taking her holiday leave. Luckily we got a very good interview as when we arranged the interview with her she asked us if we could deliver her the questions to answer so she could prepare herself. Agreeing to this we sent her the questions midweek so she could recite what she was roughly going to say. Overall the interview went very well, she answered each question with ease and very professionally. We got very good footage from her and overall were very relieved to have gotten such quality. We luckily had enough time to interview her and also get a good quality for a decent amount of time.
Wednesday 04th December
Today I managed to organise an interview with a guy named Peter, who said he had a phobia of ladybirds. We agreed for him to meet us at our classroom so we could go outside and interview him as part of our mise en scene for the outdoors relating to insects, we also needed more interviews away from the blue screen as our teacher suggested this. Unfortunately it wasn't lady bird season so we couldn't find any ladybirds for actuality footage but fortunately I found one by chance a couple of days prior to the interview with Peter, so I took it into college in a box so after the interview we could film it on leaves and such. We interviewed Peter on a bench outside of college with a backdrop of bushes and such. As we were setting up however, I forgot to bring the interview questions, so I had to quickly go into a classroom to print some out as my other group members set up the camera. After that we interviewed Peter, I personally think this could of gone a bit better but my group members seemed to like it so I went ahead and agreed. It wasn't a bad interview, I just personally thought it could of been a lot better.
Thursday 05th December
Today we decided to film some more voxpop but this time in college. I thought it could be better idea because more people could probably stop and answer a question. Unfortunately however because our media lesson was situated at an early time in the day, there wasn't a lot of people about because they were either going to lesson or their lessons didn't start till later therefore they wouldn't have been in college yet. We got a couple of vox pops, but we had to change locations a couple of times to determine how many more people would go past. Unfortunately we decided to leave to go to our lesson earlier and ended up doing nothing in our lesson towards the end. Hopefully tomorrow we can get more vox pop as it is set at a point in the afternoon our lesson.
Friday 06th December
Today we did another vox pop which was more successful than yesterdays. We did this around the afternoon where there were most people roaming around. However, midway we had to change the microphones from a boom microphone to the clip on phone because we could pick up more sound for the vox pops. I was a bit suspicious about the background of our shots as well, but the vox pops would just have to do for the moment.
Monday 09th December
Today I was on a trip so I couldn't be with my group on this day. Apparently the group worked on the blogs and tried to sort things out so I hope we start filming tomorrow.
Wednesday 11th December
Today we reviewed our footage in our lesson, our teacher pointed out that some of our footage was blurry and needed to be retaken again so we had to organise several interviews to be made again with the people who we previously filmed. We also would probably have to do the vox pops again as a lot of the footage we took for it was highly unusable. Later today we also interviewed the girl who had a phobia of puppets, this interview actually went really well and I was really pleased how it turned out, we would probably use this in our final documentary.
Friday 13th December
Today we interviewed Elliot again for our snake interview. The reason why we did this again is because in our lesson our teacher pointed out that most of our footage was blurry and we probably had to retake a bit of footage again. This time around the interview had a much clearer shot and was in better detail so I was glad about that. We managed to do it during Cameron's film lesson because our media teacher taught Cameron and Elliot for film on the same day we had Media so it was fortunate that we were able to grab an interview with Elliot at such a short notice. We also interviewed peter again for his interview as the positioning of that was also wrong, we did peters interview in a free with him, again this one probably went a little bit better than its previous interview too.
Monday 16th December
Today we managed to interview a girl called Molly who had a phobia of the fabric velvet. This interview went very well also. It was probably one of our most decent interviews to date. We filmed in our Media lesson in the blue screen room, we were nearly going to do it in the textiles room, but there was a class using it at that time so we resided in going to the blue screen. We could probably get actuality footage of a textiles room or something to go in for the background.
Wednesday 18th December
Today we redid the interview with Donna again, who has a phobia of spiders. Instead of a classroom like last time we decided to do it outside behind some bushes. Compared to last time this interview very well, the lighting was good and the mise en scene was a lot more recognisable. The answers from Donna also were a lot more informative than before. This interview turned out a lot more better than its predecessor.
Thursday 19th December
Today was our hour and a half lesson so we booked out the camera and went over to Morrisons to do a vox pop. Unfortunately we didn't get anyone as there were only a few people around and most of them declined a quick interview ,it didn't help when it was near the Christmas holidays and also being so early in the morning. We came back with no footage which was a disappointment.
Monday 06th January
today we reviewed our footage and where we were up to with our documentaries to our teacher. we made a plan that at the weekend we would get more actuality footage of the pet shop and try and get an interview with the keeper as well as getting vox pop done, the psychologist interview done and several other phobic people. We decided that we should do most of our footage (like the pet shop and voxpop) over the following weekend as this was more accessible and easier for all of us.
Tuesday 07th January
Today I managed to gain an interview with a guy called Jake who had a phobia of heights and open water. We interviewed him after my lessons and Sam's lesson as well. We were able to get a decent interview out of him however, afterwards we noticed several problems with it, for example the back light wasn't on to make to image more clearer and we feared it was probably a bit blurry. It wasn't as blurry as our previous interview's but I may see if I could gain another interview with him.
Thursday 09th January
Today we booked out the camera to interview one of guy who Cameron had gained who had a phobia of spiders. We did it at the beginning of the lesson and took it outside to film. This was actually a very good interview as he answered the questions fully and clearly with interesting answers. I thought it would be a good interview to put into our documentary.
Sunday 12th January
Today my group met up in the centre of town to do our vox pop. We were originally going to go to the exotic pet shop again to get actuality footage and an interview but we could only do this on another day so we went ahead and got our vox pops done. Originally we didn't get get a lot but towards the end we managed to get one or two, it was disappointing but it was fortunate that we now have a good couple to work with for our introduction. Afterwards we went to my home to interview my sister and my parents about their phobias, I only did this with Sam and myself due to Cameron needing to be somewhere at the time. We managed to get decent interviews with my family members, in fact with my sister we managed to get 10-15 minutes worth of footage from her as she talked about her claustrophobia and arachnophobia. We also filmed my parents, with my dad having a fear of rats and my mum having a fear of snakes so they both went decent. We also managed to get various actuality footage produced, for example, the dolls footage, lady bird and claustrophobia. Today we managed to get a lot done which I was pleased.
Wednesday 15th January
Today in our media lesson we did the refilming of the counsellors interview as the previous one was very blurry and out of focus. This time it was a lot more focussed and better, we also had a problem with the mise en scene with our last interview so we sorted this out as well by removing various posters and objects out the background.
Thursday 16th January
Today we went to Stockton Heath to film voxpop interviews. We were a bit apprehensive at first due to the time of day ( 9 o'clock) and how people will respond to being asked to do an interview. Luckily though we did manage to actually get a couple of voxpop interviews in which we were very pleased about. This was probably one of our best voxpops.
Friday 17th January
today we began to create our edit decision list and also start editing our footage on adobe premiere pro. I started by editing the vox pops to go in at the start followed by the intro of our Documentary.
Wednesday 22nd January
Today we continued to edit our documentary and also get our edit decision list over and done with. at first I started doing the intro and cleaning it upo but then Cameron managed to get done half of the editing. Hopefully we can get more done tommorrow, I also hope to get more actuality footage and archive footage taken tomorrow so I have booked the camera out. My teacher suggested to me I should print out archive pictures and film them ourselves to get a better authentic look.
Thursday 23rd January
Today Cameron continued with the editing whilst me and Sam went out to film the last of our actuality footage. We went into a spare classroom where I brought velvet, the Doll and also printed out archive material to film. We filmed the velvet several times stroking for the footage, we also filmed the doll against a simple white background. for the archive footage we stuck the images onto the wall and zoomed in and out of them and panned the pictures too. When we got back we added the footage onto the computer and imported them onto the edditing software. After the lesson I continued to stay behind and edit the footage, I couldnt concentrate properly and was getting very stressed so i left it for the day to come back and finish it tomorrow.
Friday 24th January
Today i continued to edit a little bit of the footage and finish a rough draft of it. Unfortunately however I had an exam that day and I didnt have long frees to edit my work in. The classroom was also full up so I had to go into my frees and quickly do the work.
Tuesday 28th January
Today In my free I managed to clean up and finish our documentary which I was pleased about. Cameron also went and cleaned up several of the cuts I had made so I was also pleased that he was able to clean up more mistakes for us in the edit. This was just a rough copy for the moment, but we still had to create the voice over, radio advert and poster.
Wednesday 29th January
Today we started to look at conventions of radio and poster advertisements and create several concepts and Ideas for poster and radio adverts. We also went onto writing up several slogans for both advertisements to be featured in both mediums. I managed to finish several concept drafts of the poster and both Sam and Cameron managed to come up with most of the slogan ideas.
Wednesday 05th February
Today we managed to get our teacher to assess our slogans, poster and radio advert ideas. Unfortunately none of the poster ideas were up to standard but our teacher managed to help us with an idea of a model with a snake around their shoulders, a clown behind the subject and selected spiders in shot with an irrational fear in shot (balloons, cotton, ect.) As difficult as it sounded to obtain a snake around any given persons shoulders,I realized that my boyfriend had snakes at his house in which he handled himself. I realized I could obtain pictures and footage at my boyfriends house over the weekend.
Friday 07th February
Today I rented out the camera and video camera for the weekend and reviewed some of my footage. I realized I also needed a lot more actuality footage for my given interviews like the dolls interview and the spiders interview and the velvet. When I came back to my home I filmed a bit of archive footage of spiders and snakes and dolls and also tried to film a spider in the corner of one of my rooms but the footage was too blurry and dark so this was unusable footage to use in our documentary.
Saturday 08th February
Today I went over to my boyfriends house to film and take photos of a selection of actuality footage of snakes, dolls, and velvet all of which were provided at his house. I originally was going to take a photo of a snake around the shoulders of someone for the poster advert but I also managed to take photos of snakes for the blue screen and get decent footage of them too. I also got blue screen images of baby dolls, and velvet which also came out very well. My images for the poster advert came out really well as my boyfriend helped me put up a white canvas for the background of the model, I also managed to get my boyfriend to be the model in my photo with the snake around his shoulders.
Monday 09th February
Today I uploaded my footage from the weekend onto the film and continued editing the film footage.Today Idecided to photography the clown and balloon for my poster. The clown was Cameron in a mask so we decided to go ahead and take the photos anyway. I quickly editied the poster together and showed my teacher, but he thought it wasnt a very good image and suggested if i get a different person to put facial make up on to be a clown.
Tuesday 10th February
Today I managed to find a model for my poster to be the clown. He agreed to take part in it and I took the pictures during college .I put on facial makeup and asked for him to pose and such. Once I was done, I uploaded the images and applied them to my poster. I was really pleased with these photos, a lot more better than the previous ones. I still needed to add more to the poster though. I realized I needed the spiders for my poster so I asked Sam if he could bring a fake one in.
Wednesday 11th February
Today I continued more editing, and also Sam brought in the spider where I took photos of the spider and uploaded them onto photoshop where I continued to add them into the picture. Cameron also nearly had his radio advert complete.
Thursday 13th February
Today we edited the footage and cameron brought in some voice over footage to put into the documentary and radio advert. Unfortunatly the radio trailer voice over and for the documentary was of his voice and the teacher said that he should go and get a newer voice over for the production work.
Friday 14th February
Today we ended up editing most of the documentary and i finished most of the poster for the poster advertisement, over the half term Cameron was going to get a voice over to record as he had a recording studio at his home.
Monday 24th February
Today I came back from term to edit, Cameron also had the voice over completed but he just needed to put it up and do the radio trailer.
Wednesday 26th February
Today we had a media lesson all day to complete most of our work, Cameron managed to add the voice over to the documentary and we were able to edit a bit more of our documentary. Cameron still needed to do the radio advert. But we managed to complete most of the documentary.
Friday 28th February
Today we managed to complete the documentary and clean it up, we just needed Cameron to do the radio advert in which he had completed after the day and put it up with everything so that was completed.
Today we rung a couple of people selected from the questionnaires we delivered. We asked for the numbers of the people if they wanted to partake and they gladly accepted. We got a Documentary with three girls who had phobias from the conventional spiders and heights to dolls and such.
