recording and editing radio advert

(The recording and editing of the radio product was done by Cameron and he recorded his dad, here is his blog post)

Recording and Editing the radio trailer

This is the microphone and mixer that I used to record the radio trailer. I used the Yoga DM-868 dynamic vocal microphone and the the Xenyx 302USB mixer.
The software I used to record radio trailer vocals is Cubase Artist 6.5. In Cubase I added a compressor and reverb to the voice to give it more depth and make it seem a little bit creepy.

scripting radio advert and documentary voice over

Radio trailer annotations:
  •  Information is at the end of documentary voice over.
  • slogan is introduced before scheduling information
  • To note the naming of the channel in which the programme is scheduled on should be mentioned at the very end, instead we have only put it in the middle of a scheduling information.
  • Questions are raised in the trailer I.E.: "some fears can be rationalised but are all of them rational?"
  • extract quote from documentary has also been introduced in our trailer I.E "are all of them rational"

Newspaper advertisement production

This is a contact sheet for the snake around the subjects neck. The snake is actually a real snake used around the subjects neck so we wanted to keep as much as it as authentic as possible.
This was the first contact sheet of the clown in the mask. This was done in college using Cameron underneath the mask.
We had to take seperate photos of the balloon because the balloon wasnt filled with helium. This would make it much more difficult to photograph with the clown.
This was the old version edit of the poster. This was a very rough edit and decided that the clown mask didnt look very good.
I decided I would get someone else to model the clown. This time I would apply facial make up on him. This was the contact sheet of the newer version of the clown.
I re edited the poster again using photoshop. I unsaturated the clown with a photoshop edit. this time the poster looked a lot more professional than the previous one did. I decided though i needed add a lot more to it as there was a lot of white spaces everywhere in the poster.
I decided to take photos of something else to include into the poster. I realized that I wanted to include spiders into the poster so I asked for a fake spider to take pictures again. I would want to use these into my poster advert.
I scaled one spider down to size and turned it around using photoshop. I then used a straight line tool and coloured it a light grey to recreate a spider coming down from a spiders web.

To add more suspense I decided I wanted to add more spiders in the shot. I again scaled the spiders down to size like I did with the last one. I then added them onto the models by adding them onto the hair and shoulder (shown above).

I then imported the photo shopped image into adobe illustrator where i continued to edit it. I ended up applying a dark grey box over the image and making into a gradient mesh where then i could select different parts of the box and bring down the transparency. This would create a misty effect shown above which in my opinion made a very interesting graphic effect to the poster. I then decided to add the text and logo, I added the BBC logo in the far right corner of the poster along with small font text underneath it showing the date and time. I then added the slogan above the two models complete with a opaque black base. The font style I used for the poster is also Gill sans, the same font in which the BBC use for their logo.
I decided to change the poster once over . I found that the BBC logo I used in the previous poster was just the BBC in general and not BBC 1 which we specified the program to be on. I decided to replace it and put the BBC 1 logo in the top left corner of the poster instead.  I decided i would change up the information in the lower right corner and also colour in ther font red in correspondence to the BBC 1 logo, the balloon and also the clowns make up. I also managed to enlarge the balloon to fill in the big white space. I also rotated the hand holding the balloon so the baloon could be all in shot instead of trailing off on the side.
